Reading & Recovery Stories

A number of books can be useful for individuals recovering from concussion or TBI, spanning personal experiences, scientific insight, and collective narratives. Many people find that reading memoirs and recovery narratives helps them feel less alone and more understood, especially when purely clinical explanations do not capture the lived experience of their symptoms (Wake Up Brain, n.d.).

🎧 Tip for Post-Concussion Reading: Readers often encounter challenges that make reading difficult after an injury. When reading remains hard due to cognitive symptoms, audiobooks are a helpful alternative to reduce cognitive strain while still engaging with supportive material (Wake Up Brain, n.d.).
